Alex Open for best

ALEX NOREN came from seven shots off the pace to win the French Open – and then set his sights on this month’s Open.

The Swede, seven off the lead starting his final round, carded a 67 to set a sevenunder-par target which nobody could reach.

The 35-year-old (above) said: “I never thought I was going to win. The first two days were really tough for me but I played a lot better over the weekend.”

On his chances at Carnoustie, Noren said: “The Open has been the best Major for me resultwise. I’m going to have a week-and-a-half of practice and see what I can do.”
