With a sweep of a pen, US President Lyndon B Johnson has just minutes ago made his mark in history by signing the long fought for Civil Rights Bill giving equal rights to all Americans, regardless of race, colour or religion. The legislatio­n came amid a background of civil unrest after some states in the south stuck doggedly to segregatio­n and refused the right of African Americans to vote or attend certain universiti­es.
