Measles ‘still threat to UK’

MEASLES is still a danger despite the World Health Organisation saying last year it was eliminated in the UK, an expert warned.

A surge in cases this year shows it “remains a threat to the UK population”, Public Health England’s Dr Maliha Moten said in a medical journal report.

Cases were “mainly linked to importations from Europe”, it said.

PHE urged travellers to check they were up to date with MMR jabs and, if not, to call their GP to catch up.
