of people seem to think this will be Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s last World Cup, but not me.

Qatar has invested a lot of money in football clubs and players, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see those two end their careers at the same time after the next tournament.

That might sound a bit fanciful — Ronaldo will be 37 and Messi 35 by then. But it’s not an impossibility for either of them to keep themselves fit enough to have one last and ginormous pay-day in the Middle East.
