DOCTOR Foster actress Sara Stewart has given up looking for love online, after being recognised off the telly – and attracting unwanted attention from younger fellas.

Divorced Sara, 52, played Susie Parks in the hit BBC show and is about to star in the new series of ITV’s Unforgotten.

She says: “I’ve been largely single for six years. I’ve had little forays and dalliances, but nothing has stuck.

“I’ve tried internet dating, but it doesn’t work for me. I don’t want somebody interested because they’ve seen me on the telly. And I don’t want someone being starstruck by my friends.”

“You want someone who can take everything in their stride, and that’s hard to find,” she said.

“Being an actor it’s a whole way of life that’s different to people who aren’t.”

Sara is divorced from fellow actor Aden Gillett, 59. They have son, Sam, 25, also an actor, and daughter India, 23, an assistant producer. Sara said she gets

a lot of attention from younger men online. She added: “But I don’t feel I can have a relationship with a younger guy. I want to be with someone who’s had the same life experience as me. “I’m looking for someone who has kindness, loyalty, wit, wisdom – and height. I’m finding that hard to find.” But she’s also not that bowled over by men her own age, saying: “There are few oil paintings among men over 50. “A lot of them seem to be letting themselves go with bellies, losing their hair, not having much style.” Despite her difficulties, Sara hasn’t ruled out getting hitched again. “I like the security and commitment. I’m in the third stage of my life, and I’d like someone to play out what’s left with.” On rumours of a possible third series of Doctor Foster, Sara said: “If demand is strong, people might make a series three. But that’s pure speculation. I know nothing.” In August, Sara will star with David Suchet and Brendan Coyle in Arthur Miller’s The Price at Bath Theatre Royal.
