BREAST cancer patient Sam McGimpsey looks superglam in a fashion shoot that helped restore her confidence after a double mastectomy.
And now Sam is calling on Mirror readers who have had breast cancer surgery to enter a contest to take over from her as the face of Debenhams’ postsurgery lingerie brand, Spirit.
Sam, 44, from Chester, said: “Life is short so fill it with as many positive experiences as you can. I promise you will enjoy this as much as I did.”
The Debenhams team launched Spirit after researching how best to support women after mastectomies and breast cancer ops.
Now we have joined up with the retailer to find an amazing woman to be the face of their new Spirit collection, which will be launched in October.

Sam, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014 after finding a rash, said: “I’d encourage women who have faced a breast cancer diagnosis and had surgery, to apply and give this opportunity a go.” After being referred for a mammogram, a lump and skin biopsy, Sam’s results showed she had two different, unrelated kinds of breast cancer, one in each breast. She had a bilateral mastectomy in 2015 and has been stable on the drug Kadcyla for two years. Sam said: “My breast cancer knocked my confidence, but the Debenhams shoot helped to change that.
“It made me feel beautiful, renewing some of my lost confidence.
“It was an incredible opportunity to do something glamorous and feel like a professional model for a day.
“The whole experience, from being photographed to seeing the final images on the Debenhams website, gave me a huge boost.”
Sharon said: “Surgery can dramatically alter a woman’s body shape which may leave them feeling uncomfortable and like a stranger in their own skin. A badly fitted bra can cause pain and irritate the scarring caused by surgery.”
The Debenhams Spirit postsurgery range will be available in 10 styles in sizes from 32B to 40G. A 50p donation from every bra purchase will be made to Breast Cancer Now, and VAT will be deducted from the price.
