‘Face slash so wife too ugly to be wanted’

- BY STUART ABEL

A MAN slashed his wife’s face and neck to make her so ugly no one else would want her, a jury heard.

Wayne Harford, 52, was in a jealous rage when he launched a 20-minute attack on wife Julia who feared she would die, the court was told.

He also cut her ankle in what she believed was an attempt to stop her escaping, the trial heard.

The prosecution said: “He was trying effectively to ensure that nobody else would have her.”

Harford grabbed a kitchen knife during a row after the couple, of Plymouth, had been drinking.

Harford denies causing GBH with intent on January 7 but admits a lesser charge of GBH without intent.

The trial continues.
