Shops worth the fight

Both my partner and I greatly appreciate all the Mirror is doing in its Fightback campaign. This helps stem the flow of high-street shop closures including many names you would have thought were here to stay.

Although the internet is partially responsible, I think the proliferation of huge stores, with free parking, popping up like mushrooms on the outskirts of our towns, is the main cause of the problem.

Unless we are prepared to pay a little more for an altogether better shopping experience in town, the superstores will be the death of our town centres and we can only have ourselves to blame. The phrase “use it or lose it” has to be uppermost in our minds. Brian Davies, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
