Peers hurt in Lords mishaps
PEERS and their staff have injured themselves 19 times at work in the past year – including one who needed medical treatment when a shelf fell on their head.
Dangers encountered in the House of Lords included slippery floors, boiling water, falling radiator covers and a sliced finger from cutting thread from a button. One person was hurt while stacked chairs were being moved and another broke their arm after falling down stairs.
Four people needed medical aid. A Parliamentary source said: “Some of our members are a little older than at the normal workplace, but I don’t think many injuries were caused by senior moments.”
