SOUTHAMPTON have captured towering defender Jannik Vestergaard. The centre-half, 25, has moved from Borussia Monchengladbach for £18million after passing a medical this week. Vestergaard (left), who is 6ft 6in, has been a regular in his two seasons at Borussia and he was part of Denmark’s World Cup squad, but unable to add to his 16 caps. He also played for Hoffenheim and Werder Bremen having started out as a youngster at Brondby in his homeland. Vestergaard faces a quick reunion with his former club as the Saints play Monchengladbach in their final pre-season friendly on August 4.
