Gareth rains on parade
GARETH SOUTHGATE has backed the decision not to have a parade after England’s World Cup campaign.
Belgium are being welcomed home next week by a party in Brussels despite only reaching the semi-finals.
Three Lions boss Southgate said: “It’s not actually my decision, but I agree with it. If we make the final, that’s different.
“The support we’ve had from home is immense.
“To have been able to make a difference is something that will live with us all forever.
“The country has united behind football. That’s maybe more important than the performances in some respects. If we had a parade, that would have been one part of the country. We represent the whole country.
“We’re very proud, but we haven’t won in the end.”
