LET’S KEEP IT SERIOUS

-

GARETH SOUTHGATE will be forced into changes for the third place play-off – but insists he will take it seriously.

Jordan Henderson, Ashley Young and Kieran Trippier could miss out while Southgate also admitted some players have been nursing niggles and illness.

England boss Southgate also did not rule out changing his keeper from Jordan Pickford to Jack Butland – but made it clear he does want to take the game seriously while Harry Kane (above) wants to play to get the Golden Boot.

Southgate said: “Everyone wants to play. Sometimes it’s not always a good decision to play if people’s energy isn’t quite there.

“It won’t be exactly the same starting XI, but we want ideally to make as few changes as possible.

“There are one or two injuries, one or two with a bit of illness. We have high motivation to finish with a medal at a World Cup.”
