The pals hoped to catch just one on their 24-hour trip so were stunned by their huge haul of porbeagle and blue sharks.

Tom Clayton, 29, who landed the biggest one, 90lb, said: “We couldn’t believe what was happening. It was pure excitement.”

Toby Basset, 27, added: “I was first up and within an hour the first was hooked.”

Their group of five, skippered by Dan Hawkins, returned all sharks to the waters off North Devon during Wednesday’s trip.
