Jack fails to reach highest Stan-dard

- BY ADRIAN KAJUMBA

JACK DRAPER failed at the last hurdle in his attempt to make history in the boys’ final.

Draper was hoping to become the first Brit to win the title since Stanley Matthews – son of the football legend – in 1962.

But world junior No.1 Chun Hsin Tseng (with Draper top) proved a step too far for left-hander Draper, 16, and won 6-1 6-7 6-4 on Court One. Draper (left) recovered from a humbling first set to take the second on a tie break. Not long after he broke Tseng’s serve to make it 4-4, but the Taiwanese aced him to claim the trophy. Draper said: “It gives me immense confidence. It’s been an unbelievable week. It’s going to give me a lot of inspiration.”
