‘Rare snaps’ of Churchill up for sale

- BY DANYA BAZARAA

PHOTOS of Winston Churchill visiting British servicemen after D-Day have come to light.

The snaps of Britain’s wartime PM show him smiling with members of the RAF at an airfield close to Gold Beach in Normandy in July 1944.

Despite cameras being banned, airman George Lee also took snaps of King George VI and Army chief Bernard Montgomery.

The pictures are in an album George compiled in France, Holland and Germany towards the end of the Second World War.

Auctioneer Andrew Aldridge said: “So far as we can tell, the two photos of Churchill have never been seen before.”

The album, up for sale on Saturday, could fetch £6,000 in Devizes, Wilts.
