‘Slave sale’ school faces closure risk
A SCHOOL where children allegedly tied a black pupil to a lamppost and whipped him in a “mock slave auction” may close or be taken over by an academy trust.
It is understood Beechen Cliff School in Bath, Somerset, has been given a “termination warning notice” after being rated inadequate by Ofsted.
Police investigated in January after the pupil was allegedly called “extreme racist names”. Footage was circulated on Snapchat.
Three expelled pupils later returned. Four others were excluded for a period. Two board members left.
The Sunday Times also said that a claim a French pupil was called a “dirty croissant” is being probed.
The Department for Education is awaiting a response from the school.
