Poundworld to close 40 more stores
POUNDWORLD is to shut another 40 stores – with the loss of 531 jobs.
The closures on Tuesday come as time begins to run out to find a buyer for the rest of the stricken chain.
Poundworld had 335 branches and 5,100 workers when it went into administration last month.
The first two waves of closures affected 105 stores, with the loss of nearly 1,300 jobs.
The remaining shops could shut by early August if no buyer is found for the struggling company which has lost out to rivals such as Poundland and Poundstretcher.
Clare Boardman, of administrators Deloitte, said: “We are keeping staff appraised of developments as they happen.”
