Singer & wife Ayda a hit on X Factor debut
ROBBIE Williams was finger-flicking good again as he wowed on his X Factor debut.
The singer, 44, and wife Ayda were a huge hit with the audience as they joined the judging panel for the ITV show’s first 2018 auditions.
Robbie repeated the cheeky gesture from his World Cup performance last month, sticking his finger up when the Wembley Arena crowd cheered for Simon Cowell. He then started clapping as they sang his own name. And he led the crowd in a rendition of his hit Angels after one hopeful’s disastrous Elvis-style version of it.
Simon loved his antics, saying afterwards: “It has been brilliant. I don’t want to oversell this but I have had one of the best days of my life.” Robbie’s best lines included: “That could put a glass eye to sleep” and “You perform like you’re in your bedroom getting ready for a night out.”
Show insiders were impressed and one said: “There were times when Cowell was like, ‘I can’t say much more because Robbie’s said it all’.”
Meanwhile, Ayda, 39, drew laughs by mocking her hubby’s failure to crack America. When one act said he could be big in the US, UK and Ireland, she said to Robbie: “You’ve got two out of three.”
The show also has 1D’s Louis Tomlinson as a judge and is on our screens at the end of August.
