Mum’s car is snatched with four-week-old baby in back

- BY MARTIN FRICKER

CAR thieves attacked a mum and stole her high-powered Audi – with her fourweek-old baby girl still in the back.

The tot was missing for more than an hour after the gang of youths pounced as the woman arrived home.

Witnesses said they pushed the mum to the ground as she got out of the car, then drove over her leg as they sped off.

Police used a helicopter in a bid to track the Audi A3 S Line. The baby was eventually left outside a health centre after the thieves spotted her in her car seat. Police were last night waiting to reunite her with her mum, who was being treated for leg injuries.

A neighbour in Acocks Green, Birmingham, said: “She’s only just bought the car, it’s a lovely Audi.

“She lives at the end of the cul-de-sac. They followed her in and shoved her to the ground as she got out.”

Another said: “I heard screams and saw two cars speeding away. One had a group of lads in, the other was the Audi.”
