Facebook boss: We shouldn’t take down Holocaust deniers

- BY CHRISTOPHER BUCKTIN US Editor

FACEBOOK founder Mark Zuckerberg has caused a furore by saying the social media giant should allow posts from Holocaust deniers.

Mr Zuckerberg, who is Jewish, told technology website Recode, that he didn’t think such people should be removed from the site.

He said: “I don’t believe our platform should take that down because I think there are things people get wrong. I don’t think they’re intentionally getting it wrong.” But Matthew McGregor, of Hope Not Hate, said: “The Holocaust is one of the great evils of history, an industrial genocide levelled against the Jewish people. It is incredibly dangerous to give any credence or platform to those who deny it.” Mr Zuckerberg later retracted his remarks: saying: “I personally find Holocaust denial deeply offensive.”
