New York is top pick for cool holiday

NEW York has been named the coolest destination of the year by British tourists.

Iceland and South America followed in a poll of 2,000 holidaymakers.

But party hotspots such as Ibiza and Marbella were considered “not cool”.

Eight in 10 said the ideal destination had to have a different culture, and nearly half said it has to make their friends and family jealous, found the poll by First Direct.

Boss Joe Gordon said: “Different cultures, and finding places others haven’t experienced yet, is key to a good holiday.” Top 10 coolest destinations: 1 New York, 2 Iceland, 3 South America, 4 Paris, 5 Japan, 6 Amsterdam, 7 Cuba, 8 Tuscany, 9 Cote d’Azur, 10 Croatia.
