‘No chat’ rule puts school in another class

-

A STATE secondary has improved behaviour by banning pupils from speaking between lessons.

Children must also walk in an orderly line, in silence, at The Albany School in Hornchurch, East London.

And they queue on the playground three times a day – also in silence – before heading to lessons.

Head Val Masson, 51, said the number of pupils in isolation for poor behaviour halved in a month.

She added: “We wanted a calm and academic atmosphere like a high-end institution.”

Year 10 student Ronnie Brooks, 15, said: “It’s changed the school, it’s made it so much calmer.”
