BOOZE LOLLY
Craze for alco-popsicles growing
AN adults-only alco-popsicle has been launched amid a craze for boozy ice lollies.
The Pimm’s POP has an alcohol by volume of 4.3% – the same as a typical lager.
Shoppers may be asked for ID when they buy them, warned Tesco.
A spokesman described them as “a guilt-free treat”.
He added: “These ice lollies represent a glass of Pimm’s in frozen form.”
They cost £2.50 for two and have just 32 calories.
Demand for adult ice pops has grown 10% in the past year. Waitrose is launching a rosé wine version today with an ABV of 8%, stronger than a pint of beer. The Mirabeau Frose Popsicles cost £2.99 each. Aldi’s Gianni’s Alcoholic Ice Popsicles were unveiled last month at £1.99 for four in flavours including Gin & Tonic, Bucks Fizz and Cosmopolitan. Sainsbury’s launched Raspberry Bellini and Gin & Tonic lollies in May, costing £3 for a pack of four. And Ocado has POPS Bellini Prosecco Ice Popsicles at £5.99 for a pack of three.
