Gem looks for sparkle
ADAM GEMILI knows it is time for the current crop of British athletes to “fill the shoes” of Mo Farah and Jess Ennis-Hill.
London plays host to the Anniversary Games at the Olympic Stadium tomorrow and Sunday.
With Usain Bolt retired, Ennis-Hill gone, Greg Rutherford going and Farah switching to the road, there is a shortage of star quality.
Gemili, who contests the 100 metres, 200m and sprint relay, said: “I want to medal and deliver for the UK. We had that in the past with Mo, who was always turning up and getting two medals. Greg and Jess could also be relied upon.
“We need people now to step up and fill those shoes.
“We’ve got a fantastic group of athletes and we’re just on that cusp.”
