Dismay over Virgin move to axe UKTV
VIRGIN Media’s four million subscribers are about to lose all 10 UKTV channels, including Dave, Gold, W, Drama and Alibi.
It follows a contract row over cash and the rights to on-demand services.
UKTV chief executive Darren Childs said: “The huge cut in fees that Virgin has requested doesn’t reflect the value we bring to customers.”
Some Virgin customers took to social media to complain at losing favourite programmes such as Top Gear, Only Fools and Horses, Call the Midwife and Taskmaster.
If there is no agreement, the channels will vanish from Virgin’s platform from midnight tonight.
It comes after Virgin Media hiked fees by up to £48 a year last November.
