‘I TOP THE BILL & PAY THE BILL’
DINA ASHER-SMITH admits to being in shock as she goes back to the Olympic Stadium.
Six years on from being a kit-box carrier at the London 2012 Olympics, she returns to the scene as one of the headline acts in the Muller Anniversary Games.
But ahead of her 200m showdown tomorrow against the world’s best, the 22-year-old admits she is paying a high price for her new status.
“I moved into my own place in January and I’m having to get my head around council tax and bills,” Asher-Smith (above) said. “When I didn’t eat something at home it would go off and my mum would get really angry. Now, I think ‘wow, that was like £5.’ I don’t waste stuff.”
Britain names its team for the European Championships on Monday with Asher-Smith insisting that she wants to defend her 200m title and have a crack at the 100m.
