France legends in fighting talk

- BY HECTOR NUNNS

TRIUMPHANT World Cup coach Didier Deschamps has reignited an ugly row with Christophe Dugarry.

The pair were team-mates as France won the trophy for the first time in 1998 on home soil.

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema was axed from the French squad in Russia, Dugarry accusing Deschamps of lying and putting himself before the country by claiming the decision was for football reasons.

But Deschamps hit back: “He has gone too far. Dugarry dared to say that I was holding France hostage – that is beyond all reason.

“He says what he wants, he has his radio show.”
