£40m flood defence aid

FLOOD defences are to get a £40million boost, the Government has revealed.

The money will be channelled into schemes to protect 7,000 properties, including 5,000 homes.

Environment Agency chief Sir James Bevan said: “It’s welcome. We’re seeing more extreme weather.”
