IVF being hit by ‘rationing’
THE first “test tube baby” Louise Brown would be unlikely to be born today on the NHS, due to “social rationing” a charity says.
As her dad already had a child, eight in 10 NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups in England would refuse her parents IVF, Fertility Network UK said.
NHS England replied: “The NHS has never been able to offer all the IVF people might want.”
Louise, born in Oldham, is 40 next Wednesday.
