Fuel prices rise again as oil falls

-

FAMILIES hitting the road for the summer getaway face “rip-off” prices at the pumps, says the AA.

Fuel prices are at their highest since the summer of 2014.

AA figures show unleaded is at 128.57p a litre and diesel costs 131.72p, compared with 114.66p and 115.42p last year – despite a drop in wholesale prices. Motorway service stations were charging 147.9p a litre for unleaded yesterday. That is 9p more than the UK average. And diesel was almost 150p – 18p more than average. The AA says pump prices have crept back up, though the price of oil has fallen. Spokesman Luke Bosdet said: “Supermarkets are the best place to fill up with cheaper fuel.”
