Queen off to Balmoral but without Philip
THE Queen has arrived at Balmoral for her traditional summer break.
But she travelled to her Scottish retreat without husband Prince Philip.
It is understood that the Duke of Edinburgh, 97, has stayed behind at Buckingham Palace rather than make the journey. It is thought he will join her later on.
The 92-year-old Queen heads to the Scottish Highlands every year and is expected to stay at Balmoral until September.
The Duke retired from official royal duties last year after 64 years of public service and had a hip replacement op in April.
Earlier Buckingham Palace said that a meeting of royal household staff had been called, but there is “no cause for concern”.
