Ecuador ‘to end asylum for Assange’
ECUADOR’S president is to meet with the UK Government this week amid claims his embassy is preparing to withdraw Julian Assange’s asylum status.
The move could pave the way for the Wikileaks founder to be handed over to British authorities.
President Lenin Moreno is in London to attend the Global Disability Summit.
He will meet with International Development Secretary Penny Mordaunt, who is hosting the summit.
It is understood that Assange’s six years holed up in London embassy are likely to be discussed.
He fled there while on bail, fearing he would be extradited to the US on spying charges if the UK returned him to Sweden to face rape allegations that have since been dropped.
