SLOW PROCESS Off to find a mate W, 8pm

Ted the bearded dragon has been straining to lay eggs. She’s pushed so hard that she’s got a nasty prolapse.

Huxley the lurcher is terrified of going to the vets, but he needs an operation, so it’s an ordeal.

And Susie the chicken has a blocked oesophagus, causing a build-up of food and a smelly infection.

This is just an ordinary day at Montgomery Vets, a clinic in Kent that doesn’t just treat your average cat and BBC1, 7.30pm dog. The team, headed up by Clive Munns, treats the cute and the cuddly, but also the very unusual and exotic – from iguanas to hedgehogs, snakes to seagulls and everything in between.

In this new series, cameras follow the staff as they save lives and make tough decisions.

At one point, nurses Fay and Leah debate whether they’d rather deal with poo or vomit.

And Clive explains to one pet owner how they put animals to sleep.

Expect emotional scenes.
