FOOD

-

BBC2, 8pm

Another chance to salivate over Nadiya’s family favourite recipes and wonder what it would be like to be invited round for dinner.

“When my family gets together, food is central,” she says. Not surprising once you see what she whips up.

Dishes in this episode include nutty and garlicky furikake fries, mouthwatering beefburgers with ‘bacon’ jam, jollof pilau with a salted cucumber salad, and a back-to-front cheesecake. Heading out of the kitchen, Nadiya is in Hampshire to meet a man who goes the extra mile to ensure barbecue perfection.

She also visits a salt-processing plant in Cornwall and meets Michelin-starred chef Paul Ainsworth to find out how to get the best out of one of our most commonly used seasonings.

Paul is championing salt, which he then shows off on various dishes. But it’s the vanilla ice cream (with vanilla sea salt) that sends Nadiya into ecstasy.
