Puel plan? Hang on to Harry

- BY JAMES NURSEY

LEICESTER boss Claude Puel hopes the Foxes can match Harry Maguire’s ambitions.

The centre-back excelled for England at the World Cup and has Manchester United chasing him.

Maguire admits he has ambitions to play at the top, but Leicester are planning to offer the defender a bumper new deal.

The ball-playing stopper, 25, is still on holiday and will not join up with the Foxes squad until after their pre-season trip to Austria this week.

But Puel hopes Leicester can persuade the in-demand ace to stay when he returns.

Maguire has four years left on his contract after signing from Hull a year ago for £17million.

“It is important (for Maguire) to continue for Leicester,” said Puel. “It is a good feeling. If our players are interesting a lot of clubs it is because we made good recruitment and work in our training sessions.

“It is important to continue this work. When we welcome them (Maguire and Jamie Vardy) back, I hope we can to give them the opportunity to continue their ambition and perform in the Premier League.”
