School needs ‘basics’ cash

A TOP comprehens­ive school is asking parents for a “suggested donation” of £1,000 a year to pay for classroom basics.

King David School in Manchester has lost £1million from its budget in six years while costs have risen by £500,000.

The Jewish school has made two posts redundant and increased class sizes. Teachers’ union NASUWT said: “Requests are now endemic in the system.”
