Boris slammed for attacking Khan on crime
BORIS Johnson has been accused of “hypocrisy” for moaning about rising crime while squatting in the highsecurity £20million official residence that came with his old job of Foreign Secretary.
He said it was a “scandal” the murder rate in London was higher than in New York. Mr Johnson said his successor as mayor, Sadiq Khan, was blaming “everyone but himself”.
Mr Khan’s office dismissed it as “desperate nonsense”.
Ed Davey, Lib Dem Home Affairs spokesman, added: “Boris is quick to point the finger but never ready to take responsibility. The crime wave is a result of Tory policies. When it comes to keeping people safe, politicians should not play opportunistic games from behind their high walls.”
Labour MP Helen Goodman said Mr Johnson’s behaviour was “selfish and hypocritical”, adding: “He should be paying full market rent from July 9.”
