Walrus’s quacking stunt branded cruel
AN aquarium where a walrus has been taught to quack like a duck has been accused of cruelty by an animal group.
Misha delights audiences by quacking when a trainer puts his hand in the mammal’s mouth.
But PETA has condemned the practice at Primorsky Oceanarium in Vladivostok, eastern Russia. PETA’s Jason Baker said the hyped “speech program” is just a “money-making scheme for which sad animals are imprisoned for life”.
PETA believes Misha should be moved to a coastal sanctuary.
The aquarium said Misha was found as a malnourished and exhausted pup and now weighs 126 stone.
