Today’s picture shows Louise Brown, the world’s first test-tube baby, with her doting parents Lesley and John Brown at home in Bristol. Louise, who celebrates her 40th birthday today, was born at Oldham General Hospital weighing five pounds, 12 ounces. Her parents had been trying unsuccessfully to conceive for nine years. Her younger sister, Natalie, was also conceived through IVF four years later.
