JOSE FUMING AS DEADLINE LOOMS

-

FROM BACK PAGE £175million on strengthening over the summer, United’s only significant outlay has been £52m on midfielder Fred. Mourinho is known to be frustrated at United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward’s failure to have landed all of his transfer targets. The United manager’s subsequent public admission of wanting two more signings is a blatant message to Woodward to get a move on and land the players he wants. Top of his wish-list are Leicester’s England defender Harry Maguire, and Inter Milan and Croatia winger Ivan Perisic. They are likely to cost a total of £130m, and Mourinho wants deals wrapped up as soon as possible. The transfer window closes on August 9. Apart from Fred, United’s only new arrivals are £19m defender Diogo Dalot from Porto and 35-year-old Lee Grant, a £1.5m buy from Stoke as a reserve goalkeeper.
