NAM BAM!

VinFast may sound like a domestic cleaning product, but it’s actually the name of the first indigenous car maker in Vietnam which is set to burst on the scene.

The drawing you are looking at is a concept for an SUV the firm intends to make from next year – penned by top Italian design house Pininfarina. A saloon is planned too.

VinFast aims to eventually build 500,000 cars a year, which is ambitious, to put it mildly, even if it does intend to show both models at the Paris motor show in October.

I wonder who is supplying engines for the cars because I very much doubt that VinFast will be able to make its own. Not by next year, that’s for sure.
