ENGINEER’S TOP CAREER

-

Top names across the UK are taking part in Engineering Open House Day to help inspire children to love maths and science – and to consider engineering as an exciting and rewarding career.

On August 3, there will be more than 55 events to showcase the vital role engineers play in everyday life.

Organisations including BT, the BBC, Tower Bridge, the National Theatre, Royal Mail and adventure experience UP at the O2 will open their doors for behind-the-scenes tours and workshops designed to excite children and their parents. And to help families learn how engineering sits as the heart of many things we know and use.

The day is organised by the Institution of Engineering and Technology to help address the huge engineering skills shortage the UK faces. Chief Nigel Fine said: “With 2018 declared the Year of Engineering, there’s never been a better time to engage with and inspire children and their parents. It’s important that we continue to work together and change the outdated views of what engineering is perceived to be.”
