WOAKES JOY AT WINNING TEST BATTLE
WARWICKSHIRE all-rounder Chris Woakes is expected to be given the green light to restart his international career today.
National selector Ed Smith will name England’s squad for the first Test against India, which starts on Wednesday at Edgbaston, at lunchtime after meeting with his fellow selectors last night.
Woakes missed the one-day series against Australia and India with thigh and knee injuries after playing in England’s last five-day game against Pakistan.
He proved his fitness by turning out for England Lions against India A (left) and got through 30 overs in Warwickshire’s Championship game against Middlesex which ended on Tuesday.
