LEEDS WANT BAMFORD IF CZECH’S OUT
LEEDS will launch a £5million bid for Patrick Bamford if they fail to land Derby’s Matej Vydra.
Marcelo Bielsa has been chasing Vydra for two months since becoming Leeds boss and an £11m offer has been accepted by the Rams. But the move is in danger of collapse over the Czech Republic forward’s £50,000-a-week pay demands. And unless Vydra, the Championship’s top scorer last season, agrees to compromise, Bielsa will turn to Middlesbrough’s Bamford (above).
The 24-year-old striker is unsettled after falling down Boro boss Tony Pulis’ pecking order. Leeds hope to tie up the £3m capture of Wolves leftback Barry Douglas, who underwent a medical at Elland Road yesterday.
