SARAH CAN ‘BIRNAM’ UP

DAILY MIRROR secretary Sarah Cook is “all systems go” for her moment in the limelight at next week’s Qatar Glorious Goodwood Festival.

Sarah, 36, who oversees the smooth running of the Daily Mirror and Sunday Mirror sports desks, rides fouryear-old Misty Birnam in Thursday’s Magnolia Cup for trainer Ian Williams, twice a winner of the fiveand-a-half-furlong lady amateur riders’ contest.

Twelve jockeys face the starter to raise money for Cancer Research UK and Sarah (above) — who has also received backing from Betfair — said: “Misty Birnam is a great ride to have in the race. It’s all systems go now.

“He hasn’t matched his best form since he was trained by Mike de Kock in South Africa but he goes well at home.”
