SINGER Roy Orbison died due to his addiction to yo-yo dieting, a new TV documentary has claimed.

US pathologist Dr Michael Hunter believes the Oh, Pretty Woman star, who was 52 when he died in 1988, binged on junk food before starving himself to slim for his next tour.

Dr Hunter said: “This cycle of substantial weight gain followed by drastic weight loss would have OBSESSION Roy Orbison undoubtedly placed tremendous strain on his heart.” Orbison threw himself into his work after first wife Claudette was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1966 and their two sons died in a fire in 1968. In Autopsy: The Last Hours of..., to be shown in the UK later this year, Dr Hunter reviews the Texan star’s medical records. He discovers Orbison ignored warnings to curb his unhealthy lifestyle after a triple bypass 10 years before he died.
