Leeds in a Pat for Mat U-turn
LEEDS are poised to snap up Patrick Bamford after pulling out of a deal for Matej Vydra at the last minute.
It is understood Vydra was at United’s training ground for talks, but the plug was pulled over the Derby forward’s wage demands of more than £50,000 a week.
Leeds switched to Middlesbrough’s Bamford, who is due for a medical ahead of a £32,000-a-week contract. He will cost an initial £5million, which could rise to £6.5m with add-ons.
Derby hoped to sell Vydra, the Championship’s top scorer last term with 22 goals, to raise funds for new boss Frank Lampard to overhaul his ageing squad.
