ATZENI FEARS EX-FACTOR
Eye is big danger to Without Parole
ANDREA ATZENI won’t underestimate Expert Eye when he takes the mount on favourite Without Parole in tomorrow’s Group 1 Qatar Sussex Stakes.
The Sardinian, who replaces the suspended Frankie Dettori on unbeaten St James’s Palace Stakes hero Without Parole, was on board when Expert Eye leapt to 2,000 Guineas favouritism with an impressive success in the Group 2 Vintage Stakes at the Qatar Goodwood Festival 12 months ago.
“He was very impressive when I won on him last year,” admits Atzeni. “When I got off him I thought, ‘This could be something special.’”
Expert Eye (right) bounced back from three defeats at Newmarket when landing the Group 3 Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot, and Atzeni added: “Perhaps he just doesn’t like Newmarket, but he’s a smart horse and you can’t underestimate him.”
DREAMFIELD, 8-1 favourite for Saturday’s Stewards’ Cup after his narrow defeat at Royal Ascot, will miss the race.
