Burnley throw Forster lifeline

- BY ALEX CROOK

SOUTHAMPTON outcast Fraser Forster is set to be offered an escape route with a loan move to Burnley.

Clarets boss Sean Dyche spoke to Saints about the keeper’s availability after Nick Pope injured a shoulder.

England international Forster, 30, lost his place in the first team in January and is now third choice following the arrival of Angus Gunn from Manchester City.

Pope, who was hurt during a Europa League qualifier against Aberdeen last week, is expected to be out for up to six months.

Southampton are willing to pay towards Forster’s £65,000-a-week wages.
