Saucy move cuts jar size
HOMEPRIDE is the latest big brand to use the shrinkflation tactic.
Some 20 varieties of the food giant’s sauce jars have gone from 500g to 485g with no cut in the prices.
Homepride owners Premier Foods said it “was not possible to absorb the impact” of rising costs of ingredients and “rather than raise prices we reduced the size of packs”.
Shrinkflation has also been used in the past year by Cadbury and McVitie’s.
